Good morning Sally,
What a great way to spend a Friday night
(beats going to the pub)! I am all motivated to get cooking
something a bit different, also slightly embarrassed at the state of my
Fish Sauce, so I am off to the Asian store to renew and stock up. I
believe that Lisa's husband has had Pork Dumplings every night.
Thank
you so much for the great food, ideas and company.
Cheers

Hi Sally, Thanks again for a
great weekend……..making labna, smashed potatoes & israeli eggs (or
something similar :o) all the time… I was looking forward
to a weekend of cooking, eating and relaxing, but my husband wasn’t so
sure…..BUT, we both had a great time and now he is cooking up a storm at
home. It was a perfect combination of great food, great company and
time to ourselves to explore the Island and do your own thing. We both
loved Sally’s relaxed approach to cooking and we now use a lot of the
recipies at home as they are simple, easy but fabulous. Hubby is hooked,
he is coming to the ‘Cooking for Blokes’ and ‘BBQ Glory’ classes – LOL ! Thanks
for a great weekend ! Now we always cook with alot of love ! PS:
What was name of the deli you were all raving about, and what suburb is
it in……..will make a trip into brisbane to stock up on supplies….. Kaaren Lewis

Thank You, Thank You and Thank You. The
entire Janice Meredith Family Thanks You. Everything was
so wonderful. I had such a great time on Friday the 30th, I really
appreciated the lift home too. I am very grateful for your
patience and your humor - you also have a contagious laugh ( I loved it) My
husband was in wow mode, the moment he opened the fridge. We ate the
rice that night and before I suggested the fritatta it was gone. He ate
that aswell. The kids enjoyed the pasta over 2 nights and can't
wait for mummy to visit Aunty Sally again (he he). Visiting your
website and reviewing all your classes - you are one busy lady. I
would like to work my way through all your classes other than the
blokey one of course and look forward to the trekking trips in Sunnybank
and BEYOND !!!! Regards always Janice Meredith

Next time you are organising a Rocklea market trip I'd love to come along. Just let me know the dates and I'll be there! Thanks again for a very relaxed but informative night. A great way to end the week. Cheers Robin and Matthew.

“We had a fantastic time at the Straddie Cooking Weekend. Great
venue, nice mix of people and the food… oh so good! Sally gave us some
great tips and it was all done in such a relaxed, fun atmosphere. We can
highly recommend it to anyone considering a cooking class with a
difference, no matter your skill level. We’ll definitely be using these
recipes again and again." Bec & Tom PS Looking
forward to the recipes, I’ve been hanging to make the Labne!!

I am a builder of many years experience in designing & installing kitchens of all prices & design, alas I have an aversion to actually cooking in them. Our daughter provided us with an opportunity for a "Taste Trekkers" weekend on Stradbroke Island by means of a gift for a renovation on a new kitchen for her family. My immediate thought was the wine would be no good? On Cooking initiation Sally took me aside & explained "Bay Leaves" are not chopped up! It is just my cooking skills haven't emerged from the ice age! From the "Get go" the strangers who had assembled around Sally became effervescent, vibrant wannabe cooks, when split into teams the experience was like no other for me, I now know something about the value of fresh vegetables, ingredients & sauces. Also desserts to die for. To quote Sally herself cook with love in your heart, this will excite & enthuse you. More than anything else I have learnt to cook with love. This is where the passion is. I would recommend this course to anyone especially men such as myself who have been hand fed all their lives & never known the passion they have missed. Well done Sally 10/10
P.S. The wine was divine:)

I am the other half of Brian the builder, workaholic & "what's for dinner" tonight, sweetie darling! The extent of Brian's cooking is he manages to boil an egg to perfection & makes a great cuppa! Thats where it all ends. When our daughter gave us this "gift "( I was hopeful for some help in the kitchen) we decided to take a couple of days prior to the Taste Trekkers & take a lovely break for ourselves, especially as we hadn't been on Stradbroke for 30 odd years, we loved it & by the time we met Sally & shown our accommodation were both rested & excited to begin the classes. The food Sally provided for our group was refreshing as we tend to have easy pre-packed food from the supermarket. This was all fresh & organic, fruit & cheese & the fresh aroma of coffee we brewed ourselves along with an array of fresh herbs to fill the kitchen/ dining. The accommodation was clean, very in vogue & all the pleasures of home & more. Starting with drinks & getting to know everyone & listening to Sally talk about food & the "Love" you put into preparing food. The fist night was over before we knew it. The following two days were great & I learnt much more myself from Sally, her easy going attitude & if we made a mistake she would explain how to remedy it. All the recipes were easy to prepare & the pleasure of eating was as good as any top restaurant. I now have a husband who no longer stays out of the kitchen but happy to help or even take initiative which is a miracle in itself, would highly recommend Sally & her special "Taste Trekkers" weekends & be pleasantly surprised. My favorite (it was hard to chose) was the Paella, Herb Labne & Jamon on Crostini followed by lashings of Sangria. Good Luck Sally in recruiting more chefs in ordinary kitchens, we hope to re-visit one day again soon.
Regards Ann

Taste Trekkers is proud to offer cooking classes at the Salvation Army rehabilitation program in Red Hill.
We offer the cooking classes usually every second month and they run once a week for 4 weeks. We aim to teach how to cook nutritious and healthy meals on a budget; when to shop and what to buy.
it is important that people realise that it is not difficult to feed your family or even just yourself on less that $25 a week...with some thought this is well and truly achievable.
It is a great outlet for those who are undertaking the program as they get to cook, have a chat and eat tasty food.
We would love to establish a vegetable and herb garden if anyone is interested in taking on that adventure plkease get in touch with Sally. 0408 321 822

Hi Sally
I've been meaning to email you for ages. I did the Back 2 Basics course starting late Feb.
Just
wanted to let you know I had a great time in all of the classes. The
course was just brilliant and has given me a few things I now do really
well. The Leek and Lemon risotto has had a few runs, as has the crispy
chicken wings. I also have the scrambled eggs most mornings.
Your style of teaching was fantastic and you created a very enjoyable learning environment.
I am just going back through the recipes to try my hand at a few more that I haven't yet tried again.
This
sort of cooking class is something I have had on my list to do for
years and so glad I did it. While I only know a few dishes now, friends
and family look forward to tasting my food which is great.
Thanks for your help and all the best with your business.
Kind regards and warm wishes
Scott Wagstaff

Hi Sally and Anna,
Thanks for a great cooking class and evening. I have done a number of classes over the years and that was one of the most relaxing ones that I have participated in. In saying this, I certainly added to my level of knowledge and skills.
My daughter said it was one of the best nights of her life! We cooked the crispy pancakes tonight and they were a great success. she is very keen to cook all the recipes we learnt. now I am thinking it was one of the greatest Christmas presents a mother could give her daughter! Ha ha ha now I am going to benefit from my investment!
Georgia is now lining me up for the next course.

Hi Sally Thank you for a great day at the Asian markets today. I always enjoy exploring Asian markets either in Australia or Overseas. I particularly liked your relaxed style and your bubbly personality as well. Please find attached the recipe for Chef Paul’s Ramen Noodles. I am happy for you to try this and if you like it I don’t mind if you want to include it with your classes as long as you call it Chef Paul’s Ramen Noodles. The recipe has been submitted to the Hakubaku noodle company, that is why.
Thanks again for a very enjoyable and interesting day Cheers Chef Paul
